Abstract
The moment arrived for her to execute her old plan of going to America. Equipped with passports to cross France up to her port of embarkation, Madame de Staël left Geneva at the beginning of May with the intention of, first of all, spending a few months in the country residence of Chaumont, which she had rented from Le Ray, to receive her friends and supervise the printing of On Germany.
