Abstract

The nature of symbioses has been a matter of academic discussion for more than hun dred years (e.g. DeBary 1887). Especially the lichen symbioses, varying from parasit ism to mutualism, were treated several times in this context (e.g. Henssen and Jahns 1974; Nash 1996). In this chapter, I will apply the wide concept of DeBary (1887; Table 1).
