Abstract
Return to the Problem – We have, by now, familiarised ourselves with two philosophical methods or techniques, of ‘problem-dissolution’ and ‘therapy’, respectively. In setting up the first of these, we availed ourselves of a set of tools for introducing rigour into talk of semantic knowledge. These tools now allow us to develop our philosophical problem of semantic creativity with the requisite minimum of rigour. The former techniques will then allow us to cope with it. In this chapter, we shall thus prepare the ground by stating more precisely what the philosophical problem is that is bequeathed on us by the plight of the orthodox approach to semantic creativity we witnessed at the outset.
