The transition within the subcritical regime of flow over a circular cylinder

  • Chapter

Abstract

Within the subcritical regime of a circular cylinder, different groups of secondary vortices are found. The one-group secondary vortices are related to the early stage of transition. With a splitter plate, the transition in the subcritical regime is suppressed. The two-group secondary vortices are dominant in the later stage of transition.
