Abstract
The Semipalatinsk Test-site (STS), built according to the USSR Government resolution of August 21, 1947, was designed for nuclear weapons and military equipment testing. The test site, located in eastern Kazakstan on the Irtysh River, occupies 18 279 km2. The administrative centre of the test site is the city of Kurchatov-city (Semipalatinsk-21).
