Abstract
Physical properties of the large arteries and in particular the aorta play an important role in cardiovascular physiology and pathophysiology (1). Several studies have strongly suggested an association between the reduction in aortic distensibility and compliance, with a parallel increase in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality (2).
