Abstract

This chapter of the book is a personal overview of the earlier chapters, and is based also on discussions at the workshop that preceded it. Although necessarily subjective, I hope that the views I express are not tainted by too many preconceptions or prejudice. I was not one of those who provided data, but their comments and those of other workshop participants on the analyses have influenced my views. It is important to bear in mind that the chapters were authored jointly by the data providers and those who contributed towards the analysis. The data providers did not choose who should contribute analyses or coordinate this process, so their chapters necessarily present a more diverse treatment of the data than would be the case for most scientific papers in the literature. Most importantly, the conclusions of the data providers may not always be in agreement with all those who analysed their data.
