Abstract
Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen was born in Lennep, a small medieval textile town in Germany, in 1845, so that this year (1995) is not only the 100th anniversary of his discovery of X-rays on 8 November 1895, but also the 150th anniversary of his birth.
