Abstract
By way of introduction, the scope of this Chapter must be clarified: this is part of an exercise aiming at identifying future prospects for Western Europe (hereafter called Europe), not only (or even not mainly) in terms of growth and employment, but in terms of the various — economic, socio-political, cultural, organizational, institutional, and so on — dimensions of the future of Europe.
