Since the adenine nucleosides and nucleotides are such ubiquitous endogenous compounds with powerful effects on neuronal function both centrally and peripherally, the interest of pharmaceutical companies has been aroused in the possibility that adenine analogues and derivatives may have applications in the treatment of behavioural disorders of Man.
