Abstract
In this chapter the question will be discussed as to what extent persons who are exposed to ultrasound in one way or another are running the risk of physical damage. They may be patients who are examined by medical sonography (see Chapter XI), or persons who have to stay near high power ultrasonic equipment such as, for instance, cleaning tanks, equipment for welding, cutting or drilling machines and similar, which usually radiate at least some ultrasound into the surrounding air.
