Approaches to Breast Cancer Prevention

Part of the book series: Developments in Oncology ((DION,volume 62))

Abstract

Breast cancer is increasing in incidence in most Western countries [1]. The risk factors predisposing to its development include early menarche, late pregnancy, nulliparity and late menopause [2,3], but so far, only one physiologic protective factor has been identified. This is an early full-term pregnancy, which reduces four-fold the risk of developing breast cancer [4,5].
