Abstract
Work carried out by the CEA Radioecology Laboratory (La Hague) during a campaign on board the IFREMER oceanographic research vessel “Cryos” in July 1988 has enabled the measurement of conservative chemical and physical parameters over the whole North Sea. Continuous salinity profiles were obtained and the radionuclides 125Sb, 137Cs and 134Cs were extracted from samples collected at 256 stations; the extraction procedure involved using manganese dioxide at pH 3.5 and Co-K ferrocyanide.
