Ferrite behaviour in the processing of complex copper-zinc sulphide concentrates

  • Chapter
EMC ’91: Non-Ferrous Metallurgy—Present and Future

Synopsis

With the aim of developing of technology of processing of Bulgarian copper-zinc sulphide concentrates a number of laboratory investigations have been carried out:

  1. 1.

    Kinetic studies on the process of ferrite formation involving zinc, copper and cadmium oxides;

  2. 2.

    Study of the solubility of the ferrites obtained in sulphuric acid solutions;

  3. 3.

    Sulphatization of the ferrites by means of (NH4)2SO4. and FeSO4.

The results obtained are interpreted in terms of hydrometallurgical processing of zinc and copper-zinc calcines and semi-finished products.
