Abstract

Biocode’s technology and commercial business is dependent on the use of antibodies for toxin detection and for coding products. Antibody production is therefore crucial. A number of antibody producing systems have been evaluated. In particular, it is important to minimise the use of animals. This paper describes the use of a membrane reactor for antibody production.

The paper concludes that by comparison with other systems, the membrane system can be run efficiently and at high productivities and that the cost of antibodies is economical compared with other systems and the conventional techniques of antibody production using animals.
