Abstract
The high temperature mechanical behaviours of an Al2O3/ZrO2 ceramic and of the same material reinforced with SiC whiskers was studied between 1250 and 1450°C during creep experiments. In addition to activation energies higher than the creep activation energy of the constituents, mechanical behaviours were characterized by the presence of threshold stresses. The different results are analysed with regard to models of interface controlled diffusional creep.
