Abstract

In this paper we define a mechanical behaviour modeling and experimental tools for the characterization of 3D composites and especially for their deterioration. In the framework of damage mechanics a simple model of the behaviour of the material has been define at a Mesoscopic scale that is the scale of fibre-yarns, matrix blocks and interfaces. This allows the prediction of the behaviour of different geometry knowing the behaviour of the elementary constituents. This approach was carried out on AEROLOR, a 3D massive composite from AEROSPTIALE. The application on an evolutive 3D composite is at present in progress. The method and the experimental precautions are explained below with the first results obtained on the latter material.
