A Damage Approach for Composite Structures: Theory and Identification

  • Chapter

Abstract

Damage generally refers to the more or less gradual development of microdefects. A general modelling of these phenomena is proposed for composites structures. It is a kind of behavior model which, when included in a structural analysis code, allows to simulate the damage state at any point of the structure until the fracture of the structure.

The purpose of the present study is to try to focus on the main features of this general Damage Mechanics approach for composites. Identification problems are also discussed.
