Abstract
A change from conventional wet chemical analysis to the non-destructive x-ray fluorescence spectrometry method in the nickel mining and processing industry is described, highlighting speed, cost and scope advantages. Problems encountered with respect to reference standards acquisition, calibration and manpower training are also highlighted. The social implications of the change have been assessed and controlled.
