Abstract
This chapter addresses the risk to society of nuclear power and nuclear waste disposal; the acceptability of those risks; the effectiveness of governmental and industry efforts to control those risks in a manner that preserves the availability of the benefits of nuclear power; and steps that may be needed to improve our management of this technology in a way that will ensure its continued availability.
