Abstract
ESTI, the European Solar Test Installation of the Joint Research Centre Ispra, has implemented since the beginning of 1990 the new test specification 503, which replaces its predecessors 501 and 502. The specification describes procedures for the qualification tests of crystalline photovoltaic modules. This update was necessary to account for more precise field experience and to validate the draft documents proposed by the IEC (International Electrotechnical-Commission) TC82/ WG2. The paper describes implementation details and test experiences with the new specification.
