Abstract
This paper summarizes a project included in an Algerian-Spanish cooperation. The aim was to electrify with PV Energy a remote saharian village in the south of Algeria.
A 6.7 kWp PV array was installed to operate water pumps for drinking and irrigation and fluorescent lamps for street and indoor lighting. This system was installed in December 1990.
In what follows we will present the design approach, system configuration, experience gained during system installation and the early results of the PV system over the last few months.
At present, the PV system is running perfectly.
