Abstract

A survey of free convection flow with or without mass transfer through a porous medium bounded by an infinite or semi-infinite vertical plates or axisymmetric bodies is presented here. Darcy, Non-Darcy and Darcy-Brinkman models are taken into account. Governing equations, solution procedure and some important conclusions are mentioned. Some problems on the onset of convection in horizontal porous layers heated from below are also reviewed. Thermal diffusion effects on the onset of convection are mentioned. Transient free convection flows of Darcy-Brinkman model through a porous medium bounded by an infinite or semi-infinite vertical plate are reviewed.
