Application of Direct and Indirect Electrochemical Techniques to the Investigation of Fast Kinetics

  • Chapter
Microelectrodes: Theory and Applications

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSE,volume 197))

Abstract

Ultramicroelectrode techniques are able to detect and kinetically characterize short-lived intermediates down to the sub-microsecond range. The redox catalysis method allows such characterization in the microsecond to the nanosecond range. Both approaches also permit the determination of fast heterogeneous and homogeneous electron transfer rate constants.
