Abstract
The application of Kirchhoff’s laws to any circuit which consists of more than one mesh is best achieved by either mesh (loop) analysis or nodal analysis. In this chapter, the reader is introduced to both types of analysis by first considering their application to a simple circuit: in both instances, the analysis is extended to a generalized circuit in which a generalized notation is used and consequently a generalized system of solution is achieved. Finally, mesh analysis is extended to circuits in which different loops are coupled together by mutual inductances.
