Abstract
There are two trends in the role of an operator in process control systems:
-
— to use automated process control systems as fully as possible and to decrease the number of operators and the skill required of them;
-
— to collect a broad number of fairly skilled, trained and schooled operators from a ‘field’ operator to a general system operator and process planner, and to support their work by the appropriate process control systems.
