Abstract

Since the first description of the oribatid genus, Zetorchestes (Berlese, 1883), it has been known that its members are able to jump. Hitherto, however, the jumping ability of these mites with a length of about 0.5 mm has not been investigated. The present chapter refers to laboratory experiments using Z. falzonii (Coggi, 1898), a common litter-inhabiting species in deciduous woodland in Styria.
