Abstract
Semiconductor heterojunctions play an important role whenever a discontinuity in the band gap, or an abrupt barrier in a specific band are desired, or when for a variety of other reasons two semiconductors are joined. The mismatch of various parameters at the interface determines specific new properties of heterojunctions in addition to the barrier and space charge effects of the junction.
