A Study on HA-Coated Titanium Dental Implants Part I: Stress Analysis of Dental Implant

  • Chapter
Bioceramics and the Human Body

Abstract

The stress distributions around four kinds of endosteal implants were calculated by using three dimensional finite element stress analysis. Lower stress concentration in the cresteal bone region and the most uniform stress destribution were observed in the cylindrical implant. For cylindrical HA—Ti endostal dental implants, four possible stages of implant—bone interface were simulated according to our animal experiment and assumption. The results of stress analysis for the four stages were useful for design optimization of implants and climical application.
