Abstract
For applications below 1000°C glass ceramic matrix composites are particularly interesting for high temperature applications in turbine engine components, due to their high specific strength and low processing cost. Lithium Aluminum Silicate matrix reinforced by Nicalon SiC fibres have been characterized through microstructural analysis and mechanical testing.
Their behaviour in turbine engine condition has also been studied and a method is proposed to improve long term resistance.
