Abstract

Ce-TZP has been prepared utilizing ZrO2, CeO2, Al2O2 and TiO2 as starting raw materials. As expected, the CeO2 affected the bending strength and fracture toughness. The additions of Al2O2 and TiO2, over the range studied, had little effect on strength. Increasing additions of TiOs appeared to lower the toughness. The use of experimental design to optimize mechanical properties, for the system studied, is discussed.
