Abstract
We report on a correlation of the densification behavior and microstructural development of ZrO2-fluxed SRBSN as monitored by dilatometer experiments and TEM studies. Two distinct densification events are resolved by means of highly sensitive dilatometry. In this material ZrO2 only acts as an effective sintering aid because of the increased sintering temperatures and high N2-overpressue during the second dilatometer maximum which promote the active participation of ZrO2 in the liquid phase formation process.
