Abstract
In the manufacture of weak base anion (WBA) resin, it is important to control strong base capacity (SBC). In the conventional process, it is achieved by adding moist or semi-dried chloromethylated beads to amine.
At Thermax, commercial production of macroporous WBA resin with simplified unit operations, improved productivity, safe handling and cleaner environment is regularised by transfer of aqueous slurry of chloromethylated beads to amine.
By aqueous slurry transfer, SBC is controlled by detailed study of the parameters; a) amount of water, b) type and amount of solvent, c) pH and d) temperature.
