Abstract
The goal of the International Organization for Resistant Pest Management (IRPM) is to provide an international forum to promote the concept of pest resistance management within the context of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) systems, and to facilitate implementation programs in industrial and developing nations and the emerging democracies. A General Assembly of IRPM, the First International Resistant Pest Management Congress, will be held in 1992 in Washington, D.C. The Congress will bring together key representatives of the institutions in the public and private sectors that are critical to implementing resistant pest management programs. This body will identify practical approaches to encourage and coordinate internationally the implementation of local resistance management programs and help to establish a continuing and expanding communication network world-wide. Programs which have been funded and are under development for implementation include Resistance Management of Apple Insects and Fire Blight in Mexico; Resistance Management of Apple Insects, Diseases and Weeds in Poland; and Resistance Management of Heliothis on Cotton in India.
