Abstract

During the recent decade Soviet geologists and geophysicists have completed prospecting for oil and gas deposits in the marginal seas of the Pacific Ocean. Large reserves of hydrocarbon matter have been found, in particular, on the Okhotsk Sea shelf. The industrial development of deposits is to be started in the immediate future. It is also expected that by the end of this century similar deposits will be opened in the Bering Sea shelf.
