Abstract
On November 8th, 1983, an honorary doctorate in economics was awarded by Erasmus University to Henri Theil. Professor Theil received this doctorate on account of his contribution to the development of quantitative analysis in economic phenomena, as well as for his pioneering role in introducing econometrics in the Netherlands, and at the College of Economics in particular. This college is now part of Erasmus University Rotterdam.
