Abstract

The specular reflection of neutrons is now finding widespread application in the study of a wide range of problems in surface chemistry. The use of hydrogen-deuterium contrast variation to manipulate refractive index profiles makes the technique particularly powerful for the study of surfactant adsorption. Reviewed here are some recent results on the determination of both the surface excess and surface structure of surfactants adsorbed at the air-liquid interface.
