Abstract
Preliminary results are presented on the effect of the preferred orientation of bulk YBa2Cu3Ox samples on the intensities of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra. We have studied five textured samples with various degrees of preferred orientation. Resistivity measurements have shown that the specific conductivity increases with the degree of orientation from 813 Ω-1cm-1 to 1490 Ω-1cm-1.
EPR signals, due to Cu2+ ions, show i) a line shape dependence on the position of the textured sample relative to the external applied magnetic field, ii) a decrease of the intensities as the conductivity of the samples increases. The intensity from an oriented pellet is 5 times lower than the intensity taken from a powdered sample. This reduction is discussed in terms of a skin effect
