Health Economics Worldwide

Part of the book series: Developments in Health Economics and Public Policy ((HEPP,volume 1))

Abstract

Cost Containment has been for more than a decade one of the major objectives of health care policy in almost all industrial nations. For many experts cost figures and their annual growth rates are the most important criterion to assess the health care sector. To politicians as well as to the public cost containment per se establishes a success of health care policy.

I would like to thank Cornelia Behrens, Fredrich Breyer, and Peter Zweifel for valuable comments.
