Impact of allelopathy in the traditional management of agroecosystems in Mexico

  • Chapter
Allelopathy

Abstract

Some of the consequences of extensive agriculture are the impoverishment of the cultivated and wild germplasm, and the disappearance of hundreds of species from natural ecosystems that have been destroyed to open agricultural spaces. On the other hand, the modernization of this kind of agriculture, with the use of machinery, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides, that are frequently and indiscriminately applied in different environments, has contributed to the uncontrolled advance of pollution and erosion.
