Part of the Current Histopathology book series (CUHI, volume 22)

Cancer is an important cause of death within the first 15 years of life. Many childhood cancers are fundamentally different from those arising in adults by virtue of pathogenesis, behaviour and response to therapy. One of the great success stories of recent years has been the dramatic improvement in survival of children with many different types of cancer. This has been made possible largely through the development and implementation of multimodality treatment regimes, as well as increasingly accurate histological categorization.
