Carotenoids in pigment-protein complexes

  • Chapter

Abstract

A number of different terminologies have been and are used in the description of the pigment-protein complexes found in higher plants. To avoid any confusion, those that are preferred by Thornber and co-workers will be used in this article wherever possible. These designations and the alternatives used by many other groups are given in Table 3.1, together with some of the characteristics of the individual complexes.
