Abstract
To ascertain whether the main conclusions of §17 need modification when the more detailed treatments of Part II are introduced it will be sufficient, for the most part, to study the annual mean yield per recruit, Y W /R, as a function of F and t ρ’ (or mesh size in some cases), since it will then usually be possible to see at once whether any profound changes in the other characteristics of commercial importance, \( {{\bar P{'_W}} \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {{\bar P{'_W}} R}} \right. } R} \) and \( {\bar W_Y} \), are involved. Where this is found to be the case the matter is dealt with more fully.
