Abstract
To those who are not familiar with the technique, the calculation of population characteristics from equations such as those derived in ยงยง4 and 5 may present certain difficulties, and the following comments may be helpful. The first need, from the point of view of both speed and accuracy, is for an efficient work-sheet. For example, the summation term from n = 0 to 3 which appears in all equations involving the weight of fish, is almost certain to lead to computational errors and much loss of time if some orderly procedure is not adopted.
