Fluid-Structure Interaction and Column Separation in a Closed Pipe

  • Chapter
Topics in Applied Mechanics

Abstract

The simultaneous occurrence of fluid-structure interaction and column separation in a straight liquid-filled pipe is studied. The mechanisms underlying fluid-structure interaction and column separation are explained by means of simple examples. Predictions of computer simulations are compared with unique experimental data obtained in a closed pipe.
