Abstract
Nucleotide pool measurements have been shown to be an attractive tool for the control of fermentation processes with recombinant mammalian cells. In particular, the NTP and U values expressed in the NTP/U-plot gives a direct access to the physiological state of the cells. A two times higher perfusion rate had to be adjusted for a sufficent supply to satisfy the physiological requirements of the cells than had been assumed by the use of a classical environmental control.
