Abstract
Many researchers in second language acquisition have been testing a principles-and-parameters model of acquisition for adult learners. That is, they are seeking to determine whether Universal Grammar (UG), the system of innate, constrained, parameterized principles which guides first language learners, is also responsible for the acquisition of second language (L2) grammars.
