Abstract

Sharp sufficient critria for collapse is found for several well-known nonlinear equations. It is suggested to use wave collapse mechanism for optical pulses compression. An example of the nonlinear optical medium, which is described by the Ginzburg-Landau equation for a subcritical bifurcation, is ivestigated and the exact sufficient criterion of the blow-up is obtained.
