Abstract
We describe a procedure, which we call the Fuzzy Screening method. This procedure is useful in environments in which we must select, from a large class of alternatives, a small subset to be further investigated. This initial screening procedure is based on preliminary information. The technique suggested here requires only a non-numeric scale for this the evaluation and selection of alternatives. Using this procedure each alternative is evaluated by each expert for satisfaction to his multi-criteria selection function. Each criteria can have a different degree of importance. The individual expert evaluations can then be aggregated to obtain an overall evaluation function.
