Abstract
Thermometers are known to be made in different ways. In some, the rising and falling of water in glass tubes arising from the varying temperature of the air, indicates the increase or decrease of heat and cold in the atmosphere. The different degrees of heat and cold are marked on the glass tubes thermometers above in Chapter 11. We, however, have devised another method which the Reverend Father Schott describes in his Technica Curiosa, Book 11, Chapter 13, page 871 in the following words:
